Servant Leader
Rev. Tamara Fields is the Youth Pastor at New Bethel AME Church in Austin, Texas. Rev. Fields was ordained a deacon in the Southwest Texas Conference in the 10th (Texas) Episcopal District in October 2009. However, her call to ministry came much earlier as she had a deep desire to serve God’s people. Rev. Fields believes she has been called to provide ministerial support to the youth and single mothers. Rev. Fields is committed to helping women achieve financial and spiritual empowerment. She has taught workshops and supported conferences focused on Christian education and biblical interpretation for youth and women with a focus on how to live your life focused on the word of God. Rev. Fields comes from a long line of ministers. Rev. Fields is a fifth generation AME and a third-generation minister in her family. Her mother, father, grandmother, and grandfather all serve Jesus as pastors or ministers for Christ. Her grandfather was a Presiding Elder in the 12th Episcopal district. She comes from a tradition of ministers where the mantle has fallen on each generation similar to how the Prophet Elijah passed his anointing to Elisha.
Rev. Fields is also a Managing Director at Accenture LLP. Rev. Fields is the Office Managing Director for Accenture in Austin with more than 4400 plus employees responsible for bringing innovation to clients, recruiting, and retaining top talent and strengthening Accenture’s impact in the Austin community. In addition, she is also the Director of Operations for Accenture’s U.S. South Market Unit, responsible for executing the business strategy to drive growth and efficiency and engaging and developing high performing leaders across the 13-state region. As a business veteran with more than two decades of cross-industry, multilateral project management experience, she helps better serve clients with creative, strategic, and transformative solutions.
Since 2007, Rev. Fields has served on the Board of Trustees for Paul Quinn College in Dallas Texas. Rev. Fields has worked to help Paul Quinn reach the next level of potential and foster education for the next leaders in our country. Rev. Fields has a personal commitment to help Paul Quinn succeed since both her mother and aunt graduated from Paul Quinn College. Paul Quinn helped her family live financially independent, productive lives that ultimately contributed to strong family foundation that enabled her own personal accomplishments.
Rev. Fields earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas. Rev. Fields maintains close ties to the university with recruiting and as a member of the Red McCombs School of Business Advisory Council. Rev. Fields serves on Austin Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Committee as Vice Chair of Government Relations and is a recipient of the Austin Chamber of Commerce’s Greater Austin Business Award for Executive Leadership. She was named the Texas Exes Black Alumni Network’s 2019 Legacy Alumnus of the Year and is a winner of Austin Business Journal’s 2019 Profiles in Power and the Central Texas chapter of the Texas Diversity Council’s 2018 DiversityFIRST awards.
